I can help you, individually, or you and your family, or a teen who is out of control, doesn’t relate or is getting left behind by the demands of a fast-paced school/social environment, or you and your partner. I know it isn’t easy to consider counseling. You’re probably wondering how much it’s going to cost and how long it will take and what good it will do anyway. You may have the sense that you’ve already tried everything and things have just gotten worse. Maybe you have run out of hope, energy, and interest. Or you may be so upset that you can’t think. You can’t read. You forget. You’re not sleeping well. You don’t eat or exercise or try. You’ve shut down. You don’t open the mail.

Maybe you’re torn apart by a loss.  Have you have lost someone you deeply loved through divorce, trauma, a medical or other tragic event, or time? Maybe you’re feeling irrelevant, that life has gone on without you. You might not care.

Maybe the economy has lead you to reassess your skill set and how to use it.  Does worrying shut you down?  Do you feel overwhelmed?  Are you avoiding something important? Are you in a career-stall? Are you about to retire but can’t? Are you feeling shamed? Are you isolated with your feelings or with images of what happened? Is your life empty? Are you abusing substances? Have you lost your Self? Do you feel hopeless? Has your life become meaningless.  Has your creativity shut down? Where are you?  Who were you before everything fell apart?

Let’s look at who you are today, right now, where you might want to go, what holds you back and what might help.  Let’s find self-esteem based on understanding what cries out in you for help. We will start with today. We will focus on what’s not working and will develop your strengths with compassion. We will find authentic balance and self-respect, step-by-step building resiliency so you can nurture deep intimacy within and with those you choose to be in your life.

How do I work? First, we look at the immediate problems and focus on solutions. We may need to look at who or what is in control; who or what is out of control. We need to focus on the now. Then we re-assess. Is this enough? Or do you want to explore more deeply? If so, we might bring in dreams, journaling, drawing, poetry, clay, games, or movement. I develop a “treatment program” with you. Even though I am experienced and have a lot of training and skill, you are the teacher.

I meet clients in their homes or in my home office that is comfortable and completely confidential. I offer a sliding scale fee but have decided not to participate on insurance panels. In my experience, the information that insurance companies require is antithetical to our relationship. I will provide you with a monthly statement if you want to submit it for your insurance benefits.

Thank you for exploring my website.
With best wishes, Jennifer Favell

Compassionate action starts with seeing yourself when you start to make yourself right and when you start to make yourself wrong.  At that point you could just contemplate the fact that there is a larger alternative to either of those, a more tender, shaky kind of place where you could live.  –Pema Chodron
